Two, quick, one-page practice sheets for reviewing observation vs inference, and hypothesis statements. See how much they remember, or use them to introduce the topics. Information is provided at the top of each page which gives an explanation of the terms.
For the Observation or Inference? practice sheet, two pictures are shown accompanied by 10 statements about each picture. The students must decide if the statements are an observation or an inference.
For the Valid Hypothesis of Not? practice sheet, students are presented with 10 possible hypotheses. They are to decide if they are valid or not by determining which ones are truly testable. Take it one step further and discuss how the students could test these hypotheses.
These practice sheets may be assigned as homework or used for remedial work. Use them in class for review, or even a quiz.
Use them individually, or copy them back-to-back so students can complete both at once.
Answer keys are provided.
