This is a short lab that allows students to visualize the action of enzymes in living and non-living systems.
Students will use catalase extract and living cells (potato) to visualize the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. Non-living (boiled potato) and acidic ph (vinegar) will provide a visual comparison to aide in the understanding of how heat and pH affect the action of enzymes.
