This has over 100 STRATEGIES! This packet is PERFECT for multiple things: (1) For teachers to trial strategies as a pre-referral before referring students to evaluations. Get the data you need before you get the referrals! (2) To explore and track accommodations for current students on your caseload. This has over 100 strategies related to fine motor, visual motor and visual perceptual skills (examples: handwriting, spacing, fatigue, pencil pressure, scissor skills etc), movement / sensory processing (examples: sensitivity to noises, rocking in chair, fidgeting etc) and organization (messy desk, locker routine etc). This includes data collection for 3 data points. You can print multiple pages if you need more data points.

    Are you a teacher or therapist who is looking for EASY, PRINTABLE TOOLS to use with your students for legibility, b/d reversals, movement and organization? This is the packet for you. Each printable has directions for both teachers and for students. These tools focus on legibility (pages 4 – 15, ie: alphabet model, two different legibility rubrics, spacer, handwriting window, letter checker, legibility incentive program), b/d reversals (pages 16-17), self regulation of movement (pages 18-19, in seat exercises and small space exercises), organization (pages 20-25, clean desk visual, steps to complete work, and organizational incentive program).

    This is in a zip file. There are two files, one is a PDF form, so you can easily print off. The second file is a customizable file, so you can customize two of these tools.

    TWO of these tools, you can customize by typing in the boxes (clean desk visual and legibility/organizational rubric). The rest of the tools, you CANNOT type directly into the tools. You can print them out and write in what you want to put.

    *****IEP GOAL TRACKING / QUICK ASSESSMENT: Pre-writing lines, letters, sentences, name, numbers*****

    This packet makes GOAL TRACKING EASY for occupational therapists, special education teachers, paraprofessionals and other members of the team! This focuses on pre-writing lines / shapes, uppercase alphabet, lowercase alphabet, name, and numbers! This includes tracing, copying, and composing each of these areas. This can also be used for a quick assessment!

    Students trace 9 prewriting lines/shapes, (pages 4 – 5), imitate (pages 6 -7), and copy (pages 8 – 9). Students trace the uppercase alphabet, copy the uppercase alphabet and compose uppercase alphabet (10-18) Students trace the lowercase alphabet, copy the lowercase alphabet, and compose lowercase alphabet . There is also a page to record the current words per minute of the lowercase alphabet to measure orthographic motor integration (visual memory) (pages 19-30). Pages 28 -39 focus on sentence copying and writing. This is to track spaces, letter formation and words per minute. This includes 2 different sentences that have all letters of the alphabet. Pages 40 – 42 focus on name writing. Pages 44 – 49 focus on tracing, copying and composing numbers 0 -9.

    *****Over 50 Multisensory Handwriting Ideas*****

    Multisensory handwriting is a tool commonly used as an approach for handwriting for children who are just learning letter formation, children with learning disabilities and children who have difficulty with handwriting or children learning cursive. • This includes 1 page for introducing to parents (page 4), 5 pages (pages 5 – 9) of strategies including tips and directions with SOME of the explanations, to clarify. There is 1 page (page 10) that is the chart of all the ideas. • Multisensory approaches can help children to practice handwriting in a fun way. Multisensory approach taps into senses by having children practice using sensory experiences (ie: textures, movement, etc.) • Practice makes perfect and using a multisensory approach helps to make handwriting practice fun and can increase repetitions! • Multisensory handwriting approach can also help students to explicitly remember handwriting strokes by tapping into their senses. • Multisensory approaches should always be used with explicit teaching. • Many of these multisensory experiences overlap, some of them are listed on multiple pages, and others are just listed once. Tips and directions are included with SOME of the explanations, to clarify.

    Packet Directions • This is a packet to give to parents, teachers, staff, and other related services about strengthening specific skills of the hand. • There are directions for parents / teachers. • For each finger motor handout, it explains each area of fine motor, tips for success and activities to support these areas (in hand manipulation, separation of the hand, wrist stability, intrinsic strength, and open web space). • There are two different direction page, one you can write in a recommendation for practice and the other, you just print. • Some of the activities overlap, but there is different focus for why the activities are performed.

    **********Visual motor, fine motor and sensory processing ACCOMODATION & OBSERVATION TRACKER**********

    Directions • It is hard to document when accommodations are being utilized. This form makes it EASY to collect data and observational data in the student’s classroom. This is an accommodation tracker for 20 different common accommodations for visual motor, fine motor and sensory processing accommodations. There is room to write in accommodations that may not be listed, in both of the different boxes. • The top box has many accommodations listed and this should be filled out to the individual student to what the accommodations are currently being utilized. Once you fill this out, you can make a copy, so you do not have to write in the accommodations each time when you fill up the sheet. • The boxes underneath with dates listed are when you are observing, so you can make sure the accommodations are being utilized. • There is also space to write notes, write adult support level (independent, medium, minimum), write if accommodations were offered, write if student refused accommodations, completed successfully, need follow up and type of assignment.

    Directions Page 3 and 4 are versions that fit on one page. These are best printed and distributed to students in your class. Page 3 is the most basic with the least amount of visuals. Page 4 has step by step visuals. Pages 5 -10 can be used to be a full page visual or projected on a smartboard to sing.

    This is a 2 page handout focusing on the development of pencil grasp. This is perfect for occupational therapists to give to parents, teachers, paraprofessionals and other staff. This features clipart showing each grasp (page 1) and then description of each grasp (page 2). You can laminate this, so you can use this in meetings or in your toolbox of visuals. Note: Not all children develop at the same rate. This is intended as a general tool. The grasps are: Palmar supinate grasp (Ages 1-2. The crayon or marker is held in the palm. The thumb is facing up towards the ceiling. The child is using large muscles to draw such as their shoulder or arm.) Digital Pronate (Ages 2 – 3.5 The crayon or marker is starting to be held with fingers. The thumb is facing down towards the paper. The child is using large muscles such as their shoulder or arm to draw.)
