READY TO USE LESSON PLANS
This includes 2 days of lessons which challenge students to first, understand the key ideas and details of the text, and then, examine Bierce's use of craft and structure. In the first lesson, students will evaluate how Bierce's use of the third-person limited point of view develops the central character. In the second, students will evaluate his use of flashback and distortion of time.
Lesson objectives and questions are aligned to Common Core Standards. I have found this lesson to be very effective, as I've used it many times in my 11th grade classroom. These lessons, which are ready-to use, can also be modified by teachers' to fit their purposes, consists of an Aim, Do Now, Preview of Pertinent Vocabulary, a Reading Period, a Work Period consisting of rigorous, higher-order, text-dependent questions, an Exit Question, and a Homework assignment-- all of which are aligned to the lessons' Aims.
