Ocean Acidification Experiment is a Claim - Evidence - Reasoning (CER) lab design used to support students critical thinking, problem solving skills, and NGSS skills. Students use seashells and chalk to represent coral reefs and vinegar to represent ocean acidification. Students observe, diagram, research, make a claim, provide evidence, and reasoning for the experiment.
Meets the following *Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
HS-ESS2-2: Analyze geoscience data to make a claim that one change to Earth's surface can create feedbacks that cause changes to other Earth systems.
HS-ESS2-6: Develop a quantitative model to describe the cycling of carbon among the hydrosphere, Atmosphere, geosphere, and biosphere.
