Are ocean animals part of your nonfiction themes? This nonfiction min-unit is perfect for when you don't need a huge resource. Complete with full-color fact cards (which print beautifully in black and white, too) and comprehension and writing activities, this unit works well with the whole class or small groups. The animals included are: seahorse, jellyfish, starfish and octopus.
- Before reading sheet
- 4 articles (2 different levels each) on each ocean animal: seahorses, jellyfish,
starfish and octopus
- Comprehension response sheet for each article
- 2 different written response fact sheets for each animal
- Clip activity using facts from all 4 animals (cut apart the cards and have students
use a clothespin to clip the correct answer)
-True/false activity using facts from all 4 animals
The fact sheets are great for close reading in both whole and small groups. Use all of them with the whole class, or have groups of students focus on one animal and share with others.
Be sure to check out the preview to get a better idea of what is included.
This resource is part of a larger bundle of habitats, including desert, woodland and rainforest.
