This ocean bundle is a great addition to a preschool classroom. There are 9 centers included with a description below.
Ocean Comparing Numbers:
This center is great for comparing numbers. Children choose a card, count the number of seeds on each side and then clip the side that has more. There are 20 cards included.
The perfect center to work on rhyming during an ocean or beach theme. Children will match two seashells together. This is a semi-self correcting center. Children will know that if they have a blue seashell their rhyme will be on another blue shell. There are 15 rhymes included.
Ocean Animal Sort:
This center is perfect for a unit theme on ocean animals. Children sort the 24 animal cards into two categories: “lives in the ocean” or “does not live in the ocean” Each category has 12 animals. I suggest using a large pocket chart to sort the cards into. There is also a worksheet included for children to cut and sort into the correct category to check for understanding.
Ocean Cutting Practice:
Cutting practice is a great way to practice cutting skills and build up those fine motor muscles. These pair well with any zoo theme and I know for a fact my preschooler cannot get enough of these. They could sit and cut them all day. Print on colored paper for added fun!
Ocean Word Wall:
This ocean word wall pack has 23 words and four different sets that include print, lined, dotted lined, and lined with arrows. You can choose which set would work best for your children and print. This is a great resource to add to a writing center or to use as a write the room activity.
Build an Ocean ABC and Beginning Sounds:
A fun way to get your children recognizing letters and hearing initial sounds. Children will use this center to build an ocean. Each ocean has a letter on it. Once identified, children will find a seashell with a lower case letter, a whale with the beginning sound, and a fish with the capital letter. For lower level children, they may just be able to match capital letter to capital, or capital and lowercase.
Build an Ocean Numbers:
A fun way to get your children recognizing numbers and various ways to represent them Children will find a whale with a ten frame, shell with a tally and fish with a number to add to their number oceans. Numbers 1-10 included.
This easy to use center is perfect for practicing syllables. Children choose an animal, say the name and then determine if it has 1, 2, 3, or 4 syllables and place it in the correct category. There are 23 different animals included. This is great for a pocket chart activity.
Seashell ABC Match:
The perfect center to work on recognizing capital and lowercase letters. This would work great in a pocket chart for children to match up seashells. Each letter is included in an easy to recognize font.
Ocean Movement Cards:
Movement cards are great for a large group activity to get children moving. Either you or a child can draw a card, read it, and then perform the movement. There are 12 movement cards included.
