Come explore the oceans with your students to a level never seen before! Very ENGAGING lab with a fantastic tutorial and easy to understand walkthrough. In this ocean investigation, students explore ocean salinity (salt content), and dive into the scientific method, lab procedure, data collection, data analysis, graphing, graphical analysis, and data driven conclusions.
This is the modified version of the original version posted on TPT. This version is of more of a guided nature using color schemes and other pedagogical methods.
This lab contains practice questions, conclusion questions, and real world applications. As a bonus, it is cross curricular with mathematics and geography integration. Loads of fun and easy to do. All required materials are standard science classroom fare.
Within the classroom, this activity has been consistently very successful and acclaimed by students in grades 5th – 10th within multiple types of schools - public, private, and charter.
This work has also been shared at workshops, in-services, and conferences.
Great feedback from parents, teachers, and administrators.
Applicable to many state science assessments and benchmarks.
Has been applied to state mandated North Carolina end of year tests for science in grades 5 and 8.
Even used by teachers in New York State as a preparation for the Earth Science Grade 9 Regents Exam.
