Brought to you by Kodaly Music WIth Mrs Perry, this compact African song only has two pages. BUT, it contains melody, xylophone accompaniment, drumming ideas, rhythm work, embedded flute and a view of kinte cloth. You get:
*MELODY: for primary students or beginners, there are only do-mi - la in the melody.
*RHYTHM: you can read only the ti ti and ta in the song line, OR tap in the tie and have it turn into a syncopa.
*HARMONY: you may choose to have children sing the harmony OR play it on xylophones. These pitches are color coded. I have colored dots on my xylophones so that the little ones can play according to colors, even if they can't yet read the notation.
*KINTE CLOTH: There is a nice example of it here, for discussion.
Tap on it and you have a flute accompaniment for singers and drummers. There is an 8 beat intro, the song, 8 beat bridge, the song and 8 beat coda.
*PERCUSSION IDEAS: Use your own patterns or use these. The Kinte Cloth is embedded with flute here, as well.
