Join the October Language Club to get a bundle of games at a reduced price! Each week I will update this product and you will receive a brand new language game (PreK-5th grade level) that you can use with your students.
Week 1 - The BIG BOOK of Spatial Concept Assessments
This bundle includes printable assessments for a variety of spatial concepts. They can also be presented in NO-PRINT form using a tablet or computer. Each concept is assessed in 10 different pictures (or recommended activities for certain spatial concepts). The following spatial concepts were chosen for this bundle:
beside (next to)
There are data sheets available for you to track individual student data.
To create the assessment binder(s) for these assessments, I used a half-size binder. After printing and laminating the sheets, I cut them out and used a hole puncher specifically for half size sheets. This made the binder less bulky for me. You also have the option of leaving the 2 pages per sheet and putting them in a regular binder. Whatever works for you!
For the activities included that do not have pictures, you will need the following materials:
2 stuffed or plastic bears/animals
a small ball
3 blocks in 3 different colors
Week 2 - Pumpkin Patch Prefixes
This spooky game includes 36 root words and 6 different prefixes for a unique, engaging printable board game (available in color and black/white). To play the printable game you will be game pieces and dice. You may also want to have a dictionary handy while playing this game.
- Pass out game cards with word roots (each player should have the same number of cards). Place any extra cards in the middle of the game board on the ghost photo.
- Have players place their game pieces on either one of the spider webs. Players will take turns rolling the dice and moving around the game board. Players can move in either direction when they take their turn. There is no start/finish on the game board.
- When a player lands on a space and has a root word that can be grouped with the prefix on that space to make a real word, the player places the root word card in the middle. Have students use words in sentences or define words for additional practice. The goal is to be the first player to get rid of all your word cards.
- If the player doesn’t have a root word that can match with the prefix they land on, have them come up with a root word that would go with that prefix for additional practice.
A very special PowerPoint activity is also included in this bundle. There is a spinner in the PPT activity that spins to a specific prefix. You can have students name a word that includes the target prefix or use the printable root word cards with the spinner to have student eliminate their cards in the same way as they would for the board game.
Week 3 - Cause and Effect
This set includes 2 levels of practice to help your student understand and express cause and effect sequences. There are 12 card sets with associated pictures that you can use to have student explain how the items go together by explaining the cause and effect. There are also 12 cards with written statements that indicate a cause or effect. You can cut the cards out to make a matching activity or have students elaborate on the information provided in the cause-effect matches. Both sets of printable cards are available in color and in black/white.
A NO-PRINT version of these cause-effect sets as well as data sheets are also available in this pack.
Week 4 - Turkey Talk Jeopardy
Here’s a fun way to practice answering a variety of WH- questions. There are color and black/white printable cards as well as a NO-PRINT set. *The NO-PRINT version included in this set is a PowerPoint (not the typical PDF NO-PRINT stuff. I usually include in these bundles). I had to do this to because of the format of the Jeopardy game. A group and individual data sheet are also included.
