These October Fluency Practice Task Cards will give your students extra reading practice as a means to building fluency and reading with expression.
The October themed cards cover these topics: Christopher Columbus, owls, bats, pumpkins, and Red Ribbon Week (drug free). Halloween and trick-or-treating are not mentioned, but pumpkin carving is included as a topic.
There are 42 task cards with a sentence on each card. By repeated reading, students practice the sentence in segments until they read the whole sentence. This is a great way to build fluency. There are also 20 task cards containing the same sentence with 3 different ending marks. These cards help students pay closer attention to how their voice changes depending upon punctuation.
I have included a colored version and a black & white version to save on ink. I like to copy my task cards on cardstock, laminate, hole punch in the corner, and hang on a metal ring to keep them together.
Some teachers use the black & white versions to send home as extra practice.
You can also buy these as part of a bundle and save money!
