The activities in this October-themed literacy pack include vocabulary word cards associated with October/Halloween, an activity where students will sort their word cards into categories (nouns, verbs, and adjectives) and record the words on a chart, and two mini-book activities centered around verbs and adjectives. These activities can be placed at a word work center for students to complete in small groups. You would need to laminate the word cards, cut them out, place them in baggies, and have paper copies prepared for the word sort activity and mini-books. Center direction cards are included!
This pack also included October/Halloween themed writing activities. You will find a narrative story planner and final writing pages for students to write a narrative story. Character cards are also included to help students write their narrative stories. Students will choose which characters (3-5) they will include in their story. They will name the characters and write traits that would describe the character on the back of each card. Students will use these character cards to write their stories. I have also included a research report for vampire bats. Students can research vampire bats, answer questions on the report planning form, and write a final draft. Both writing activities can be placed at your writing center, or implemented in whole group. National Geographic website has some great information on vampire bats! Center direction cards are included1
