These October literacy themed activities are intended to be fun and engaging. There are 5 activities that work on print matching, sight words, one-to-one correspondence, -at rhyming family, color words and letter sound practice if needed.
The pack includes a song with word shape writing activity, an original poem with a color word activity, a monster themed emergent reader with print matching, a color by sight-word page and 8 differentiated game boards to practice either letter sounds or reading -at rhyming words or sight words.
There are 5 different activities intended to be used for 5 days, but the game boards could be used the entire month. These activities could be done whole group or incorporated into literacy centers. Or you could do all of them on one day to celebrate Halloween!
I've designated them as kindergarten and first grade. A few of the activities might be too hard for some kindergartners just as they might be too easy for some first graders. I have included snapshots in the preview to let you see for yourself and decide based on your unique class.
I did try to avoid using Halloween specific images to allow for more students to access. The images include: pumpkins, silly monsters, bats, spiders, scorpions, moons, and cute Frankensteins.
