Here is a wonderful, easy to use selection of three October Smart Board activities for use in the General Music or Kindergarten - Second Grade classroom. The first activity is a traditional song which incorporates speaking and singing voices, and the use of a triangle or any other unpitched percussion instrument. The students will also use the SmartBoard to count steady beats, introducing them to the visual of a "quarter note." The second activity is a pumpkin poem, complete with a rhythym chart (also manipulated by the students) along with activity ideas to go along with it. The last activity is a pumpkin song (but not Halloween so I do use it for the whole month) which incorporates the use of singing voices and rhyming words - this activity is great for students in K-1 who are just learning to rhyme. There are three slides of detailed teacher instructions/ideas at the end of the file and the BEST part is... Both singing activites include an audio recording of both the melody and the separate accompaniment! This is a perfect package for Orchestra and Band teachers who are teaching general music but have limited piano skills!! Enjoy!
