These centers were designed with second graders AND teachers in mind! My second graders started making requests as to what they like and dislike during independent center time. Why not make activities that meets everyone's needs? These centers are hands on, interactive, and appealing to the eye. My second graders would get so excited when they saw new additions being cut and laminated. What's better is that I designed them to make it easier on the teacher. Each center comes with "I can" posters that have picture and word directions. This made it easier for me because I didn't have to show my students how to do every center. In addition, the centers come with answer keys to promote self checking. I no longer had to sift through mounds of papers every day because my students had checked their own work!
These activities can also be used to reinforce skills during guided reading, or, if you have advanced first graders, you can meet their needs by differentiating their center time!
The skills included in this center pack are:
*sounds of y (long i or long e)
*long a (spelled ay or ai)
*verbs vs. adjectives
*long i (spelled ie and ugh)
*long e (spelled ee or ea)
10 centers in all!
