This resource includes an October Writing Journal cover page, an October Writing Choice Menu, primary lined paper with a picture box, and a page for brainstorming "free choice" writing topics.
I LOVE using these writing choice menus in my classroom. Please visit my blog at www.igniteapassionforlearning.blogspot.com about how I incorporate daily journal writing into my literacy centers.
These prompts are numbered and the writing paper I provided has a space where students record which number they are writing about. There is a picture for each prompt to help support younger readers. Each day, students simply choose a topic from the menu to write about. I include this page at the front of all of their journals. You could also laminate them or place in a page protector and students could use dry-erase markers to cross them off each choice after they wrote about them.
The students are so motivated to write each day because they have a whole menu of things to choose from. I also included a brainstorming sheet, so students can also write about topics that they generate.
I hope you find this resource helpful in your classroom!
