Product Description
Odd Little Words is a meaningful morning work resource that uses intriguing 3-letter words as the basis for high-interest vocabulary work, code-breaking, and collaboration!

It's a great way to warm-up students' brains and get the morning started in a fun yet purposeful way. Also works as a fun word work activity/routine.

I provide you with 12 rounds of Odd Little Words. Each round consists of four main tasks (one for each day of the week, plus a wrap-up/sharing session for the fifth day), all revolving around the Odd Little Word for the week.

Each odd little word is an unusual three-letter word, showing students that even small words can pack a lot of complexity and meaning.
• In Part 1 of a round of Odd Little Words, students use context clues to solve missing words to sentences, and when correct, reveals the odd little word.
• In Part 2, students learn about the odd little word through vocabulary-rich, high-interest nuggets of information, solving more missing words along the way.
• In Part 3, students use their answers from the previous part to break the code to a synonym for the odd little word.
• And in Part 4, students show their understanding of the odd little word through clever drawing and written explanation.

After all twelve rounds, students solve one final word puzzle using all twelve of the collected odd little words! This morning work is perfect for students to work together in partners, and the self-correcting nature of the activities sets up a morning routine where students can work without constantly needing teacher assistance.

INCLUDED: record sheets, answer keys, full PowerPoint Slideshow Guide, TWO differentiated versions of all 12 weeks of printables, and detailed teacher information.
