Odd One Out is a great way to promote mathematical thinking. Students are presented with four shapes and are asked to find the one that doesn't belong. There is no wrong answer as along as they can justify their choice.
This activity encourages divergent thinking, vocabulary development, concept development and more!
It's a great activity for bell ringers or for review days. It's also great when you have 5 minutes before lunch and you want to engage their brains.
This PowerPoint has 19 slides of geometry shapes. You use the slides that go with your current unit. There are also blank slides at the end to add your own Odd One Out pictures.
Also included in the notes sections are possible answers...but your students will come up with much more!
