This fun arrangement of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" is a delight for the beginner level student. It starts with the traditional song, in C major hand position, one hand at a time playing. It then introduces unison playing with a touch of harmony playing. Next the student plays "Tag" with the melody, with each hand taking turns trying to keep up to the other hand, going back and forth with the melody. My students all love this piece that I have arranged, always having a lot of fun with it.
Teacher Tip: Although the melody pattern is written in a straight quarter, half and eighth notes, for students that are familiar with the dotted quarter-eighth note pattern, I have them play that at the end of each line instead.
