A kid friendly way to practice lyrical poems. There are very explicit instructions, but it is on a word document so you can tailor it to suit your class. Students work through the prompt by looking at the definition of an Ode, discussing what lyrical poetry is, and then narrowing down the subject of their ode. An example and rubric are provided.
helpful hint: I provided my students with lists of common rhyming words to help them write, and keep anchor chart paper up where they can write their own rhyming words to help out their classmates.
