After studying the beginning of the Odyssey as a whole class, small groups of students become experts on one of the adventures of Odysseus. Each group does a close study of the story which they then present to the class. Presentations are collaboratively created on Google Slides.
Student presentations for each story includes a summary, a storyboard, identification and analysis of heroic traits and figurative language, two assigned vocabulary words for each story, a piece of artwork students locate that depicts or is related to the story, and a soundtrack or theme song students find to match their specific adventure.
The materials includes a teacher overview sheet, student directions handout, project notes organizer, class and group story assignment sheets, and a peer/teacher grading rubric that reflects both individual and group performance assessments. Corresponding Common Core Standards are listed with this posting.
