Are you looking for a strategy to introduce The Odyssey to your students?
This is a great way to get students thinking about the story BEFORE you read! They create the focus for the unit, and this will drive their reading! Think ACTIVE READERS - you are creating them through this awesome pre-reading activity.
This is in powerpoint file and it includes
1. the objective of the unit
2. the Q focus
3. the instructions for what students are to do
This powerpoint is not fancy with amazing graphics, pictures, etc. This is a template for the Odyssey QFT, and you can spice it up however you would like. The real focus here is the questions that the students come up with.
(It is recommended that students complete this activity in groups of 3-4. I also recommend allowing them to write their questions on a large poster or piece of paper. Once students are done, have each group share with you their top three questions - write them somewhere to KEEP for this unit and help drive your explanation of the text.)
