Sometimes just locating the theme isn't good enough! The English II EOC asks students to talk about theme development and how it is enhanced.
My students struggle with finding literary elements that enhance the theme and writing response paragraphs. This exercise combines these two skills!
After reading Oedipus Rex, students will work to locate symbols and motifs that support a theme from the story. Then, they will practice writing a response paragraph to the question "How does Sophocles create the theme of ___________________ in Oedipus The King?"
