This is a great supplemental writing activity to use in conjunction when teaching John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. Using the novel, teach students about sensory description with three supplemental activities. In these sequential exercises, students first identify sensory details in a paragraph from chapter one of the novel. In the following exercise, students find their own sensory details throughout the novel, and finally they practice an independent writing exercise using sensory description. These exercises are a great way to get students to notice and appreciate the description in Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.
