This is a differentiated tic-tac-toe assessment tool created to be utilized at the conclusion of John Steinbeck's novel, Of Mice and Men. It includes the Assessment Choice Board and detailed descriptions of all nine assessment components. Components include Compare/Contrast the text to multi-media, explain a historical connection, chronological graphic novel, vocabulary building, argumentative essay, modify the resolution to alter the theme, persuasive speech, figurative language poem, and newspaper front page.
This tool emphasizes the value of the 'power of choice'. Each student selects three assessment components that allow them to win a game of tic-tac-toe. Therefore, there are eight different paths to success.
I have used it in my classroom for several years and have been amazed with the results.
