This is used at the completion of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. Prior to beginning the film, the students will complete the center column with details from the novella. As the students watch the film from 1992, they will respond in the last column. The goal is to assess the similarities and differences between the film and the novella. Students will also be asked to address the portrayal of characters in the film and will need to discuss the effectiveness of the actors and actresses. This guide will keep your students on task and will also be useful to facilitate discussion on the film. Finally, as an extended activity, students will use their knowledge of both the film and novella to evaluate open-ended questions. These questions force the students to dig deeper and evaluate both the text and the film!
