This is a set of discussion questions for the second chapter/section of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. The activity consists of five broad questions that give students the opportunity to think about and discuss the main ideas in the second chapter: characters, prediction, vocabulary/ranching terminology, theme, and migrant workers of the 1930s. Included is an article about migrant workers that will give students background about migrant workers in California in the 1930s. Teachers can use these questions as the basis for cooperative group learning, individual student completion in class or for homework, or as the basis for whole-class discussion/instruction.
