This exam covers the main ideas/themes in Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. It is a four-question, short answer/essay exam, and all questions have multiple parts. The questions cover the title of the book and how Steinbeck's use of the Robert Burns' poem relates to the novel, the theme of having a dream, the theme of loneliness, and the theme of loss. Depending on the length of a class period, teachers may find the questions too complex for students to complete in one period. In this case, teachers could select questions or give students the opportunity to select questions. This exam could also be used as a take-home test.
