This is a fun way to model each step of meiosis as well as illustrate how the phases of meiosis and fertilization produce genetic variation. Students will be assigned an individual and will have to model that individual's meiosis including crossing over. Students will use the gametes they've created to get together with a mate and create a baby. The class will be able to compare all the babies and see exactly why siblings resemble their parents but are different from each other. This is a great way to illustrate Mendel's Law of Segregation and Independent Assortment as well. Includes Next Gen Science Standards.Teacher's guide as well as all student handouts are provided.
