On the first and last day of school each year I love to read the book, “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” to my class. After reading it on the first day of school we discuss the goals we would like to achieve this year and ways in which we can accomplish our goals. Next, students write a paragraph describing what they would like to accomplish this school year and how they plan to do it.
I like to save their writing to compare and contrast how their goals have changed throughout the year, and if they have accomplished what they set out to do.
Print and cut out a copy of the hot air balloon and basket for each student, then connect the two with a piece of string or pipe cleaner to display their work.
