This set of files includes a great overview of the Ohio Judicial Branch. The state of Ohio passed a law requiring teachers of American Government to include covering the Constitution of Ohio, and this can help you do that!
I have always been frustrated with the general way that textbooks cover state and local governments, so I decided to replace that chapter with this information. I pulled a lot of info from the official government websites that I wanted to teach about. It's a great way to teach what's actually in place for this state more accurately and completely than you could with a national textbook.
Included in this set of files are the following:
- Readings about the Ohio Judicial Branch and its structure, including excerpts from The Ohio Constitution (note: this helps satisfy the state's requirements under S.B. 165)
- An interactive PowerPoint to supplement the readings. This includes the PowerPoint, a Master Outline for your reference, and a fill-in outline for students to complete while viewing the PowerPoint
