Engage your students in Ohioology: Know Your State Scoot Game. This Scoot game is designed to teach students about the symbols of Ohio. Each card has a state symbol, the year it was adopted, a brief history of symbol and a little Ohio trivia. I use this as an introduction to an Ohio Studies Unit. Over two days, the students read about the symbols of Ohio and record the symbol and the date it was adopted. As a class we do a quick review then the students pick 10 symbols and create a timeline.
There are 20 cards in all. They include:
Black Racer Snake
Blaine Hill Bridge
Hang On Sloopy
