Isolate the tricky oi diphthong and and oy diphthong with this low prep, engaging phonics card game. The cOIn theme will reinforce the "oi/oy" with visuals. This easily lends itself to reading intervention, tutoring, small group, and guided reading groups.
Are your students struggling with oi/oy words? I wanted a little more isolated practice for small groups. Wanting to keep the learning fun before it becomes frustrating, I created a coin-themed 'read and keep' game.
36 oi/oy word cards are included, as well as 12 'change it up cards.' The goal is to get the most cards, and the game suddenly stops when students pull a card telling them to 'stop.' If you want to add a math component, feel free to let the students count up their money on the cards, too!
Directions are included with easy to read sight words and pictures, and a review of how to read oi/oy words is included for students to refer to while playing.
I hope you and your students enjoy! This type of card game is quickly becoming a class favorite for my firsties. I love that they are still learning and also how little prep it is (even when laminating). Place the cards in a can (save those coffee cans!) or a small paper bag, and your kids are set to go.
