What does Roy the Poison Dart Frog say? "Oi! Oy!"
Teach your students about these two sounds in a fun and active way. Students use tongs to pick up the "poison" frogs and read the new words. Display colorful chart sign to add all oi/oy words to chart paper as a class. Students practice writing the words on the Roy handout, followed by partner work on a creative writing story, using the oi/oy words.
Extend the lesson by utilizing the informative writing sheets! Learn more facts about poison dart frogs. Students can use research tools or teachers can share nonfiction books about these interesting frogs. Students can use the "transitions" sheet to help write an informational report.
