PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity is designed to allow students to write a five paragraph essay about the Ojibwa (Anishinabe Chippewa) in a creative way. Students will use the following website to gather information about the Ojibwa.

http://nativeamericans.mrdonn.org/northeast/ojibwa.html
Click here to view the website

This website is very student friendly. The student handout will guide students through the five paragraph essay format. Each paragraph will focus on a different topic such as:

Government and daily life
Hunting and the fur trade
Travel and housing
Games/Sports
Religion

The assignment uses creative writing by allowing the students to take the role of an American fur trader working for John Jacob Astor in 1825. A grading rubric is included for the teacher.

Special thanks for the clip art from Gramma Elliott.
