This is an activity which can be used in a range of environments.
Originally made for a speech tool for children with Autism it has also been used in a range of settings and with children with Autism, Down Syndrome, CAPD, ADHD and SEN. As well as this the activity works well in mainstream kindy and early childhood settings.
The activity allows the child or children to listen and follow the prompts of the animals names by placing the animals on the barn backdrop sheet. It is recommended that this be laminated first so that you can use the activity over and over again. This activity can also be used to help encourage speech by getting the child to try and sing along, stopping at the animal sounds or at some words for them to try and finish the song off. To start with for some children just present one animal at a time, build up to having them all there so that the child is having to use their receptive language skills to find the correct animal.
