PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

From Electric English...
This is the instructions for the vocabulary unit that accompanies Hemingway's novel "The Old Man and the Sea". For each of 40 words the students will be expected to create an image that draws from their denotative and connotative understanding of the words meanings. The students may draw these images themselves or pull from other resourses if they prefer. I have created the vocabulary in this way because most of the words are relatively simple in nature, as is customary with Hemingway. He uses very simple language to convey very complex, deep concepts. With this activity, the students have the opportunity to really think about the words in a new way and really cement them into their everyday lexile.
