Great resource to incorporate writing into your classroom while learning the short vowel sounds! Students love to read these classroom books over and over throughout the year!
Resource include a song card with actions of song included. 5 classroom books (each of the vowels a-e-i-o-u) which include a cover and student sheet.
Copy song card and covers on card stock and student sheet on paper. Have students write out their response during your lessons on the short vowel sound you are studying and after singing “ Old McDonald Had a Vowel Farm”. Students are to write and draw something that begins or has the vowel sound that you are working on . Add the cover and a piece of cardstock to the back while sandwiching students pages between them. Either staple or bind the book for a beautiful classroom book.
I put all the stories we make as a class in a bin and students are able to take them out to read several times throughout the day. I also put them out in the hallway during conference times, parents love to read them. At the end of the year I give these books for prizes, depending on the amount of students you have you may have enough for each student to have one.
