This is a four-week unit for the novel Old Yeller. Each week includes 15 questions (mostly short answer), vocabulary matching and fill-in-the-blank, and a choice of two journal entries. The questions target different cognitive levels, but are predominately knowledge and comprehension. Five vocabulary words from the week's reading are featured each week. Students will match the words to their definitions, and then will complete a fill-in-the-blank section using each word in a sentence. The journal questions ask students to evaluate the author's choices, make connections between the readings and their own personal experiences, or analyze characters.
