Your young mathematicians can practice counting or adding numbers 1-20 while learning about the Olympics! Students will search around the room and count picture cards with different numbers of gold, silver, and bronze medals. They will write each number they count on a recording sheet. A great way to tie in learning about the Olympic medal count with your math lessons!
Directions: Cut out the picture cards and post them in various places around the room. Give each student a recording sheet and a clipboard. Students will search around the room for the picture cards, count how many medals are on each card, and write the number of medals in the appropriate box on their sheet (each picture card has a letter in the corner that matches the letters on the recording sheet). For students who need additional challenge, have them write a number sentence (addition or subtraction) for each number. For example, instead of writing 12, they could write 6+6=12.
