CCSS.ELA.Literacy.Content.SL.K.6 - Speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly.
For best usage, please laminate and cut. During classroom activities, some students have a hard time staying on task. These visuals will help remind students to do the following:
1. Sit on the rug quietly - Give each student a card while you read a book, teach, have a class discussion or etc. Students who sat on the rug quietly may keep the card and students who did not make good choices on the rug will have the card taken away and explained why. Collect the rest of the cards and praise other students.
2. Stay on task - Give each student a card while you read a book, teacher, have a class discussion OR students who are doing seat work or at centers or etc. Students who stayed on task may keep the card and students who did not make good choices will have the card taken away and explained why. Collect the rest of the cards and praise other students.
3. Tell classmates to stop the unwanted behavior and stay on task – Give each student a card. While students are doing seat work or at centers, if another student is being a bother, the student may flash this card and tell the student to stop it and that they don’t like what he/she is doing and to stay on task. The student should apologize and stay on task. If the student has asked to stop once/twice, the teacher should step in to help! Please model, model, model and make sure students are using this card correctly!
As the teacher, you may pick the card to give. I hope you and your students enjoy the visuals to help students stay on task and enhance their learning!
