Included in this packet are five bookmark-style Quick Check cards for defining multiple meaning vocabulary.
Each Quick Check card includes twenty “Tell me two meanings for the word….” requests. A total of 100 multiple meaning words are addressed.
The Quick Check cards include boxes for placing a check or X for each response. The cards provide a quick, easy method of providing therapeutic intervention or for obtaining baseline or ongoing assessment results. The response charting boxes included on each card make data collection/charting of responses convenient and easy. Score results on the card and record on your formal data collection log.
The Quick Check cards can be used in the following ways:
Idea #1: Give each student in the group a different Quick Check card and have them state the meaning of the target words for their individual cards. Score with a check or X on each student’s card as he/she provides responses. Two scoring blocks are provided for responses. Score each definition response. This allows tracking whether the student knows one meaning, two meanings, or has no knowledge of the word.
Idea #2: Use only one card for a group (give each student a copy of the same card) and have the students take turns providing meanings for target words.
Idea #3: When working with only two students in a group, use only one card for a group (give each student a copy of the same card). Have one student provide one definition for each word and another student provide the second definition for each word. If there are four students in the group, use two different Quick Check cards, partnering the students for each card.
