The focus of this package is animals of the savanna, animal features and adjectives that can be used to describe those animals.
The aim is to support students in developing awareness of animals and their features and to develop an assortment of vocabulary through which to describe and discuss those animals in detail.
I attempted to limit the expanse of each animal package, but still got carried away. I chose the savanna as my limiting factor because there are so many interesting and engaging animals. A lot of the vocabulary can be used with other animal groups, but the games and activities included in this package focus on the savanna.
We start with a few simple facts about savannas. A selection of animals that can be found in a savanna habitat follows. A simple habitat activity and a student book are provided for reinforcement.
After learning some animal features, such as trunk, whiskers, horn and tusks, students can begin sorting and describing the animals in more detail. Two different style feature games are also included.
Moving on to simple adjectives, students are supported in describing various animals and some of their features. Graphs and worksheets are provided for further practice.
The package finishes with a simple task where students create a riddle using the vocabulary explored throughout the package.
