This is a set of comprehension questions (211) to be used when reading the novel. This product features a number of different types and styles of questions. Some focus on reading and basic fact-finding. Some seek opinions from students on action or character, and encourage them to justify those opinions. Others ask students to explain terms, or words from the text. By paying close attention to the text, and with occasion use of their dictionaries, students should be able to answer all questions.
I usually give each student a copy of the questions when we begin the novel, and then use as homework, classwork etc.. It gives students a chance to show off their knowledge of the events in the novel. I'm often amazed to rediscover that students love the routine of answering questions in this format. I also use this exercise with weak and ESL students.
I always insist that students write full sentences as answers. In this way, we're not just fact-finding in the novel, we're improving writing (grammar, punctuation etc..)
There are 211 questions in total. It's a 7 page handout, in Word format, so editable to suit your class. The 10 page answer key is also included, so 17 pages in total.
