28 word puzzle using words from Chapter 14 of the novel set in Poland during World War Two. Once I loved stories but now I hate them.
Words in the puzzle are.. alley, aspirin, candle, crouch, dazzling, deserted, disgruntled, disguise, exhausted, footstep, frown, fumes, hate, ignore, litter, looting, nostril, patrol, pirate, skid, snarling, stairwell, surgery, swallow, torch, trip, truck, and uniform.
Although students often see the puzzle format as a fun task, it is an active learning activity. It helps students with spelling and comprehension of new words. This is also the type of activity that you could use as a filler if you have nothing else prepared. I also like to use something like this to mix it up a bit and have new/different activities occasionally.
This is a great activity for early finishers.
A word bank is supplied to support students. You could redact this to make the puzzle more challenging.
The solution is printed on the second page. Download the preview file to see the solution and the grid.
