In this document you will find a simple, informational, teacher-made book about objects. This book is to help students learn that the suffix “s” is to indicate plural (good for ESOL students). Following the book (the book is 5 pages long), there are several worksheets with different questions or activities designed to: review the information from the book, practice making choices, and expressing opinions/ thoughts. Some of the activities include vocabulary work, sight words work, drawing and labeling, and unscrambling the sentence. The book follows a repetitive sentence structure allowing for emerging readers to practice reading with one-to-one correspondence, using pictorial cues for comprehension, and develop fluency while also working on sight words recognition (one, two).
This book and worksheets can be used as teaching tools, a literacy/reading/writing center, reviews, assessments, or in any other way you see fit. The absence of distracting graphics and decorations are a purposeful design choice to prevent pulling focus away from the learning and tasks at hand.
