This might be more of a quiz than a test, but it is a decent summative assessment regardless. The assessment comprises twelve multiple-choice items that are mostly at the literal level, followed by ten slightly tricky character matching items. Some of the character descriptions (such as the one for Shukhov) are not what students might expect. Part three lists five concepts important to the novel and students are to briefly identify the relevance and importance of each. The last section contains three short-answer topics that deal with specific literary features found in the work. This assessment was designed for IB English A1 HL but can be adapted to other levels.
