PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson uses the saying “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter” as a starting point for learning about the importance of perspective. It asks whether Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Osama Bin Laden, Mahatma Gandhi, Sitting Bull and Menachem Begin might all have something in common. It challenges students to think and attempt to understand that many actions cannot simply be labeled as good or bad, just or evil. It uses historical examples to stress the point that we must accept complex realities in order to understand our world and others’ actions. This lesson is able to be used with students as is, in its entirety. The teacher is free to modify the lesson in any manner that facilitates its use in the classroom. (This product has been very successfully classroom tested)
