Do your students need to practice using the terms "1 more and 1 less?" How about when the question is asked slightly differently than the typical "What's 1 more than 4?" For example, __ is 1 more than 5. Or "1 less than __ is 9." [It's NOT 8]. Our district's math series uses these sentence stems and every year my students need a lot of practice to master them. These task cards help students self correct their answers with multiple choice answers that they can move around on the task card until both sentences make sense.
15 numbers to ten cards
10 numbers to 20 cards
2 worksheets (1 to ten and 1 to 20, perfect for homework review) with answer keys
Teaching Tip: Copy each page on a separate color card stock. Cut out rows of 2 or 3 questions and glue to an envelope. Place the 2 or 3 answers inside the envelope for storage. The colors will help you with clean up. If the answers fall on the floor, you can quickly see which envelope they go in.
