This One Page Article Writing Template is an excellent resource for students to conduct short research writing assignments to build knowledge on assigned topics. I use this in my classroom for students to learn more about specific people, places, things, or ideas after finishing a unit about a broader concept. For example, my students have conducted short research projects on: scientists or other people who have made contributions to society, famous volcanoes, unique animals, countries within a specific region, etc.
How to Use this Document:
Assign or have students choose their topic within your unit of study.
Project or print a copy of this template so students can see the setup for the final draft. I also show my students the sample copy the first time they use this template to see what a finished product looks like.
Students can begin conducting research using the internet, books, or the resource of your choice.
Rough drafts can either be handwritten or typed in Google Classroom. I usually have my students do their rough copy on paper (see the Rough Draft Organizer template) and type their final.
Have students work on their final copy in Google Classroom (see next page for directions). They should submit their work when finished.
This is a fun activity to print and hang in the classroom or hallway! I recommend mounting the templates on construction paper and then adding a description of the theme students are writing about.
Note: The link for the Google template is in the downloadable PDF guide. See the preview for more information.
